Mrs. Ayers' 2nd Grade

A message from Mrs. Ayers:

I love and miss you all so much!  I hope you all have a wonderful summer!!!

***School Closure***

May 18th-  If anyone would like more enrichment work, please send me a message and I will be happy to send that to you.  I can't say enough how important it is to keep reading...the more you read, the more you know.  It's as simple as that.

Students should read at least 20 minutes daily!

Suggestions for Learning at Home

Math Skills to Practice- 2 and 3 digit addition and subtraction with regrouping, fractions, time, counting coins, measurement, and word problems.  Practice addition/subtraction facts with flashcards.

Phonics - Review phonics dance sounds and spelling on youtube, search for "phonics dance hunks and chunks."

Spelling- Each week I will post a list of review words for one of our sounds or skills.  Do one of the following each day to practice the words:  write words in ABC order, type your words, write each word and circle the vowels, write a story using all your words, write in fancy or silly handwriting,  or take a practice test.

Words for May 18th-22nd

Long u Review

mule, rule, dude, rude, muse

true, glue, cruel, fuel, Stuart

Writing - Write everyday!  Start a daily journal if you haven't already, and write each day about what you are doing this summer. Summarize and write about what you've read today.  Write about your favorite games, tv shows, movies, toys, etc.  Write a recipe.  Write and illustrate your own comic strip or newspaper.  Design and label a new toy or game.  Write letters to family members, friends, and me!  I would love to hear from you!
